Last Sunday we went out to our friends’ “farm” for sort-of an old-fashion picnic. The last time we visited was about three years ago, so this was quite a treat. There were around 40 people (6 families).
Daddy’s birthday was last month and this is what I made for him. In case you can’t tell, each “olive plant” is labeled with one of our names. The “fruitful vine” has my mom’s name next to it.
My Great Grandma Dorothy Holsinger went to live with Jesus on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Click here to see her obituary
My cousin and I sang part of this song at her memorial service.
My 11 year old sister wrote the following, all by herself to read at Great Grandma’s service:
Dear great Grandma,
I know you had the BEST Sunday service ever, listening to your Lord and sitting at the feet of your very best friend Jesus. The day you left you left behind your 3 daughters who love you and are going to miss their time and talks with you. You also left behind 8 grandchildren that loved you very much. You also left behind 19 great grandchildren and I was very proud to be one of them.
My favorite part of going to see you was your comforting, loving voice that I heard when I came through the door, asking how I was and how my family was doing. I also loved your giraffe collection and was excited to bring you a wooden one from Africa last year.
There are so many more people who miss you, but I know that there is one person who will miss you the most. He took care of you when you fell, he held your purse when you could not, he loved you ‘till your last breath and he can’t wait to see you again. He was true to his word when he said “I do” and “I love you” and that’s why you were with him 62 years. It would have been even longer, but the One who had loved you before you were born and died for your sins wanted you even more and knew it was time for you to go to Him forevermore.
Now you’re in paradise and we’re still down here on earth. You’re wanting us to be there with you-to dance and never get tired, to be happy and never need to cry or be sad, And most of all to listen to our Savior, to look face to face at our Lord, to see the scars of Jesus and to hail God King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
I love you and I will miss you so much, but I’m glad to know you’re with your best friend.
My dad created this video to show at our church for Father’s day. The song is “When Daddy Says I’m Beautiful” performed by the Annie Moses Band.

My dad sent me these photos this morning, along with this email…
Daniel’s favorite present that he received for his second birthday is
a toolbox full of plastic tools. I don’t think a day goes by that he
isn’t banging away at something as he “fixes” it with his plastic
hammer.
Today Papa came over to work on renovating the tree house and Daniel
found Papa’s hammer and some real nails to pound as he “fixed” the
trim on the porch screens. The pile of lumber he is climbing on is
waiting to be cut and used for the renovation.
He was so cute I had to take some pictures - don’t miss the plastic
measuring tape clipped to his pants…
We all had so much fun at this year’s American Heritage Festival! It was my first year “dressing up”. I spent the two nights at Elizabeth’s house (thanks again for your hospitality!).

We went out to my grandparents’ house for Thanksgiving. My dad, Daniel, Moriah and I wore our costumes from the Civil War era. (Mine complete with a hoopskirt!!)
Today is my 15th birthday. My favorite present so far (okay, my only present so far) is my new (old) sewing machine! It’s a treadle sewing machine that my parents bought at the estate sale of our neighbor. Her name was Thelma Johnston. She asked us to call her “Tim” (her nickname from grade school.)
My family has always been interested in sign language. When my littlest sister was a baby, we taught her a few signs such as please, thank you, more and all done. Now that we have another baby, we want to teach him some sign.
My family has begun to do foster care for babies. We just got certified and recieved our first placement. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to post a picture or even his name (even though he’s the cutest baby in the world). He almost never cries. In fact, if he cries for more than a few seconds I get a little worried!
Let me back up and tell you the story of how we got into foster care.
Today is my cousin Colin’s 1st Birthday and I was thinking about this time last year… Kaeden and Ivy were staying with us when we got the call that Colin was born. We were all very happy. My mom and dad got to see him a couple days later in ICU but kids aren’t allowed to go in so my sisters and I didn’t get to see him. We saw baby Colin for the first time on September 4 and I got to hold him. He was so small! He had gotten home from the hospital the day before, but he wasn’t truly Home. He went Home to be with Jesus just two days after we met him. I wrote a poem about it. The memorial service and grave side services were held on September 13 and 14.
