And I Quote

“When I was in high school my pastor likened the raising of hands in worship to children lifting their hands to their daddy. Kids aren’t strong, but they know that their daddy is. We need to go to our spiritual daddy when our arms are not up to the task in front of us. He’ll provide the strength we need to finish our race.”

And I Quote

“Why do women want to dress like men when they’re fortunate enough to be women? Why lose our femininity which is one of our greatest charms? We get much more accomplished by being charming than we would by flaunting around in pants and smoking. I’m very fond of men. I Think they’re wonderful creatures. I love them dearly. But I don’t want to look like one. When women gave up their long skirts, they made a grave error. “ ~ Tasha Tudor

And I Quote

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” ~Edith Wharton

There are an important question that this statement brings to mind: Can I be a candle? We know that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God who is the ultimate light. Since we cannot be “light” on our own, the obvious conclusion is that the only way we, as humans, are able to spread light is to be a mirror to reflect the light of God. And of course, because the light does not come from ourselves, it is of no use to “praise the mirror” :)

And I Quote

“A man can no more take in a supply of grace for the future than he can eat enough for the next six months, or take sufficient air into his lungs at one time to sustain life for a week. We must draw upon God’s boundless store of grace from day to day as we need it.” ~D. L. Moody

“He who shall introduce into public affairs the principles of Christ will change the face of the world.” ~Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin is said to be the most godless of the founding fathers, yet he made the above statement as well as others recognizing the presence of God. What a difference from our leaders today!

“But though life’s valley be vale of tears,
A brighter scene beyond that vale appears,
Whose glory, with a light that never fades,
Shoots between scattered rocks and opening shades.”

And I Quote

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” ~The Apostle Paul, inspired by God, written in a letter to the Ephesians, chapter 2, verse 10

This was one of the verses that we looked at at church. The pastor likened us, God’s workmanship, to wood in the hands of a master carpenter. I prefer to think of us as fabric and notions in the hands of a master sewer…

And I Quote

I would like to post a quote on my blog every Sunday, and maybe some of my thoughts on it. Here’s the first:

“What we are afraid to do before men, we should be afraid to think before God.” ~Beilby Porteus

Amen! is all I can say.
