Last Sunday we went out to our friends’ “farm” for sort-of an old-fashion picnic. The last time we visited was about three years ago, so this was quite a treat. There were around 40 people (6 families).

Yesterday ladies from the S&S forum asked about my hair, so I decided to post better instructions. Basically, I just braided two small sections of hair behind my ears, crossed them over the rest of my hair and secured them underneath with a couple miniclips. I also clipped the braids together where they crossed on top for extra security. If your hair is long, you could just clip the braids underneath and comb the ends into the rest of your hair. They’ll be shorter, but won’t be noticed underneath. If your hair’s on the shorter side like mine, you’ll need to secure the ends. I just twisted them around and clipped them where they wouldn’t show.
Hope that’s clear enough for you!

Challenge two~Letter Writing and challenge three~Helping to make your father’s house a home.
I was quite inspired when I saw Elissa’s writing desk in her post about letter writing, so I decided to reorganize and decorate my own. When I saw her next challenge, I was even more motivated to get it done!

I made this presentation to the girls in a homeschool public speaking class
Do you want to look good in the clothes you wear? I would like to present to you what I have learned about clothes that flatter the person wearing them.
I consider an outfit flattering if it doesn’t draw attention to itself or the wearer’s body, but rather it draws the eye to the wearer’s face.
All items of clothing that I will be referring to as “flattering” are modest, but some things that are considered modest are not all that “flattering”.
For example, the dresses above would be considered quite modest, but I do not consider them particularly flattering. I will explain later.

I was published in the Sense and Sensibility patterns newsletter! I submitted my “Pattern Story” shortly after the “My Pattern Story” feature was first included in the newsletter. 3 months later (this morning) I received an email letting me know that my story had been chosen for this quarter’s newsletter! That means that I also get $15 to spend on Sense and Sensibility patterns!!!

My dad sent me these photos this morning, along with this email…
Daniel’s favorite present that he received for his second birthday is
a toolbox full of plastic tools. I don’t think a day goes by that he
isn’t banging away at something as he “fixes” it with his plastic
hammer.
Today Papa came over to work on renovating the tree house and Daniel
found Papa’s hammer and some real nails to pound as he “fixed” the
trim on the porch screens. The pile of lumber he is climbing on is
waiting to be cut and used for the renovation.
He was so cute I had to take some pictures - don’t miss the plastic
measuring tape clipped to his pants…

My sisters got all dressed up for “‘50s night” at AWANA. Aren’t they so cute??
We’ve always loved to dress up… I found this picture from 4 1/2 years ago in 2003! They were cute then too!!
