This is a video that my dad made to show at our church. I am still looking for ladies to help us! Contact me through the registration form on the “Get Involved” page on my Reach Out website if you’re interested in the ministry. I’ll add you to the Reach out email list (which you can be removed from at any time).

The final day, and I don’t even have a picture :( My dad suggested I entitle today’s post “Weak in Feminine Dress” because I have a horrible headache and slight fever. I’m wearing the same comfortable clothes that I wore yesterday. I was hoping I’d feel better and be able to go out with my family this evening (and change clothes!), but no such luck. I’m going to bed.

Yesterday ladies from the S&S forum asked about my hair, so I decided to post better instructions. Basically, I just braided two small sections of hair behind my ears, crossed them over the rest of my hair and secured them underneath with a couple miniclips. I also clipped the braids together where they crossed on top for extra security. If your hair is long, you could just clip the braids underneath and comb the ends into the rest of your hair. They’ll be shorter, but won’t be noticed underneath. If your hair’s on the shorter side like mine, you’ll need to secure the ends. I just twisted them around and clipped them where they wouldn’t show.
Hope that’s clear enough for you!

Today it’s still raining, so my feminine touch is this shawl. It was my Great grandmother’s. Under that is a t-shirt and the jumper I wore Sunday.
Here’s a close-up of my hair. I just twisted a couple of braids around the rest of my hair to pull it back. I secured the braids with mini-clips.

This is my Edwardian Apron (ok, it’s really my mom’s, but I made it) worn like a jumper, over a t-shirt and my all-purpose denim wrap skirt. Today’s picture is in our front yard garden, in the RAIN! It never, ever rains in the morning in May. Never. But being desert rats, my family’s loving the water, as you can see in the picture of my siblings warming up with hot chocolate…

I don’t feel good today (braces tightened, back out of whack, etc…) so I hoped to wait till I felt better to take a picture. Well, it’s not happening so I just decided to go for it. I turned away from the camera to show my braided hair—not just to hide my face :) I can smile!
The dress was made by a friend of mine for my birthday two years ago. It’s one of the most feminine things in my closet right now! I rarely french braid my hair anymore, so I decided to do so today for my extra-feminine touch.

Today I’m wearing a t-shirt again, but it’s under a nice, feminine vest :) The vest has floral embroidery and the skirt is really culottes—split, like really loose pants. They’re so comfortable. My hair’s pulled back with a pretty butterfly hairtoy made of leather. I got it when we were in Sedona last December.
By the way, Miss J (if you happen to be reading), the culottes are the ones from your cousins :)

Today I’m staying home, gardening chores, child-wrangling, etc. so I’m just wearing a t-shirt under my denim overall jumper. I did tie my hair up with a pretty ribbon though!
I’m standing beside our new honeysuckle vine, and behind me is our fig tree. Our garden is growing!

“Week in Feminine Dress” was originally done by Jennie Chancey. Visit here for a description and pictures from the original week. Members from the S&S message forum participate seasonally. I’ve never participated before, but I’m doing so this week! I also presented an extra challenge to the ladies of the forum to do something “extra feminine”. For example, try a new hairstyle, wear ribbons, lace and flowers, wear a blouse instead of a t-shirt, etc.
My sister Bethany, age 9 on left wearing Regency dress that I made for her last year. I’m on the right wearing Romantic blouse with crocheted lace and my favorite jumper—Linen/rayon bodice and denim skirt. I’m sure you’ll see it again this week! I’m also wearing a ribbon in my hair :) We’re sitting in our “Bario Garden” beside mint, fennel and some other sweet-smelling plants.
Here’s a better picture of the blouse

Out with the Man-Clothes
This is a really great post on another blog. I know that the one time a year I wear jeans, I just feel…different. And not a good different!

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” ~Edith Wharton
There are an important question that this statement brings to mind: Can I be a candle? We know that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God who is the ultimate light. Since we cannot be “light” on our own, the obvious conclusion is that the only way we, as humans, are able to spread light is to be a mirror to reflect the light of God. And of course, because the light does not come from ourselves, it is of no use to “praise the mirror” :)

Daddy’s birthday was last month and this is what I made for him. In case you can’t tell, each “olive plant” is labeled with one of our names. The “fruitful vine” has my mom’s name next to it.
