Daddy's birthday gift
Daddy’s birthday was last month and this is what I made for him. In case you can’t tell, each “olive plant” is labeled with one of our names. The “fruitful vine” has my mom’s name next to it.

I went to my first exhibit opening reception at the Tucson Museum of Art. The curator gave us a tour and explained how, over the course of three years, she found artists who used metal to create their artwork. Some simply painted on pieces of metal, others sculpted and cut the metal. Many of the artists traveled from all over North America to be at the reception. One of the artists I met was Jason Young, from Canada. His art was used on the metal invitation we got, which he autographed for me. We also enjoyed the food and live music.
Here’s the information from the TMA website:
January 29, 2005 - May 1, 2005 Paint on Metal: Modern and Contemporary Explorations and Discoveries This exhibition brings together modern and contemporary artists working with traditional painting and sculptural techniques, each with a common bond-the use of metal as the canvas or the form upon which color is applied in a symbiotic melding of surface and substrate.
