Garlic

Garlic plant

I am just starting to garden, so I’ve been looking at different books to find out how to grow things. I was reading a kids book about growing from “garbage” and found out how to grow garlic. I have heard about growing it for the bulb, but this book said that after it sprouts, you can trim the leaves and eat them. It tastes like mild garlic!

Here’s how to plant it: Separate one clove from a bulb bought at a regular grocery store. Push it into the soil so that it’s just covered. Keep moist and as soon as the leaves are long enough (just a few inches), trim them and add them to salads or whatever else garlic would taste good in.
