El Nacimiento
Since 1978 Tucson resident Maria Luisa Tena has been creating a nacimiento, a traditional Mexican nativity scene, in La Casa Cordova, part of the Tucson Museum of Art (TMA). Each year the opening of the display is accompanied by a party featuring Mariachis, Folclorico and food. Our family has been attending for the past several years and enjoyed the festivities again yesterday. The Papel Picado picture I posted last night was part of the decorations for the opening event. It was too crowded to get a good picture of the installation, but you can get a taste for what it looks like on the TMA web page.
