.Mac day
It should come as no surprise that Apple regularly announces .Mac upgrades and special deals to .Mac subscribers about this time every year. It was 2 years ago at this time that Apple transitioned users from the free iTools to the for pay .Mac, and a vast majority of their user base is at the decision point of whether or not to fork over another $99 for another year of having the privilege to receive spam at their “@mac.com” email account.
This year Apple has upped the storage capacity as a major incentive. This is pretty significant, and may just nudge me into paying for another year. Being able to host videos on the .Mac homepage is a great benefit as they are able to make use of Apple’s excellent server speed without the risk of extra charges for exceeding bandwidth on gnuhaus.com. And Todd Dominey explains how to maximize the amount of storage available to your iDisk.
Jason Deraleau has his own reasons for re-upping his account, basing his decision on the hope of new features being added once Tiger is released.
How about you? What do you think about .Mac?
