National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo)

Since I can’t hope to complete a novel in 30 days, I’m going to bite the bullet and try to rejuvenate this blog and throw my hat into the NaBloPoMo ring.

Today I am sitting in on an astronomical conference called Massive Galaxies Over Cosmic Time II (the revenge). OK, the parenthetical is a joke, but everything that is being discussed is completely over my head (rim shot). Actually I am serious about that. I have no idea what is being discussed, except for the general idea that they are trying to understand how these massive galaxies formed and are forming. Beyond that, I’m clueless.

What am I doing here? Recording the talks for later posting on the web.

One interesting observation, though, is that by a quick count I see 15 Mac laptops and only 2 Windows laptops (probably running Linux…). I noticed an increase of Macs around our offices a couple of years ago, and they’ve only become more popular with the move to Intel chips. The trend appears to be worldwide as we have astronomers at this conference from Europe, Canada, and all over the US.

So, if things go as planned, this blog should be seeing a bit more action over the next month. And maybe I’ll get back into a writing groove and continue on into the next year. Wish me luck…
