Everybody's got one

Back in college I hung out with several guys in our church youth group who shared a unique sense of humor and perspective on life. These guys were quite intelligent and had rapier wits. Often our conversations would devolve into pun-fests, with puns flowing fast and furious. It was at these times that I recognized my inferior command of the language—particularly compared to two of the guys.

That was nearly 20 years ago. One of these guys, Derek Jones, works as an engineer at a local research firm. The other, David Dickerson, went on to receive a Ph.D. in writing (with an emphasis on the humorous essay, natch), and is doing his best to make a living in New York, NY.

Both have blogs:

  • Bourbon Cowboy: The adventures of an urbane bar-hopping transplant to New York. This is Dave’s blog. He’s a self-described ex-evangelical Christian, and salts his verse to prove it.
  • Shabby Ramblings: This is Derek’s blog. He covers a variety of topics when the mood suits him.

I should thank David’s twin brother, Daniel for pointing me to his blog.

About this post

In which Mark waxes rhapsodic about these newfangled blog thingies...
